Do I need to understand everything or behave the right way to follow Jesus? What if I told you the answer was no?
In Matthew 9 Jesus asked Matthew to follow Him. He didn’t ask him to repent of his sins. He didn’t even ask him to believe in him. He simply invited him to follow. And then to show Matthew that he was serious, Jesus went to his house and partied with all of his sinner friends.
So what does that mean for you?

Life is full of starting points. Your first day of college, marriage, the birth of your first child. While you didn't understand how to handle all of the future decisions that would be required of you - you embraced the journey anyway. Faith is like that. You don't need to know or understand it all to begin with it, you simply need to believe in one key point.

Maturing in your relationship with God is like the process of growing up. It takes time. We are born, become children, teenagers and eventually mature into adulthood and reproduce.
Just like growing up takes time, so does developing your faith. You'll make messes, makes mistakes, take wrong turns and continually learn. But there is a big difference between growing in your faith and becoming spiritually mature.

The purpose of the Bible is to lead us to freedom and blessing. That is God’s desire for us. It happens because as we read it we learn to think as He thinks.

A church slips into religion when it is full of people who can’t wait to tell you what you’ve done wrong. Instead of casting blame, will you take the time and effort to help them grow up?

We cannot depend on only the “called” to father and teach. We need disciples to be equipped to do the work of the ministry!
The truth is, your freedom is attached to you being trained and released to begin teaching and helping someone else grow in their walk with Christ.
